Piloting new curricula & resources with kids & teachers within INBOTS project…

EDUMOTIVA, presents on YouTube a number of pilots with kids and teachers in Athens where the curricula and resources we have developed within INBOTS were piloted. INBOTS contributes to better educational programs on robotics for children.

Edumotiva and Robotic Teacher Community ROTECO meeting to start collaboration

During a tele-meeting (April 23, 2020) EDUMOTIVA (Prof. D. Alimisis) and the ROBOTICS TEACHER COMMUNITY (ROTECO project, Sophia Reyes Mury, Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, Center for Learning Sciences) exchanged information about INBOTS and ROTECO projects and discussed plans for a collaboration between the two projects. ROTECO platform for teachers and ambassadors’ system are in perfect line with INBOTS actions for promotion of highly-accessible and multidisciplinary education programs in Interactive Robotics. ROTECO expressed interest in curricula and Open Educational Resources developed in INBOTS/WP3 and in communicating them (translated into FR, IT and DE, depending on the adequacy of resources and coherence for the Swiss study plan) through their platform for teachers and their social networks and newsletter.

INBOTS press release: a documentary on interactive robotics uptake

Robots come out from the factories, are we ready?

The INBOTS project raises the main social questions and scientific challenges associated with the implementation of interactive robotics in Europe.

Madrid, 24th April 2020. As part of the project funded by the European Commission’s Horizon 2020 Programme, Inclusive Robotics for a Better Society – INBOTS, the Institute of Philosophy of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) is launching a documentary that sets out the main challenges facing both users and developers.

Robots are leaving the factories and laboratories and they are increasingly present in various environments (at home, in schools, in hospitals, on the roads, etc.). This documentary shows the evolution from industrial robotics (robots isolated in factories or laboratories) to interactive robotics (robots that cooperate directly with humans). By exposing some of the technical advances that have favoured this development, such as artificial intelligence or the study of human-robot interaction, it aims to jointly show both the technical and scientific challenges and the social implications of implementing a type of technology that will radically transform our lives.

This documentary aims to give visibility to the real possibilities of interactive robotics through a conversation with more than 30 specialists in multiple areas of knowledge (engineering, mathematics, philosophy, sociology, law, etc.) who, from different perspectives (university, research and business), work together to take advantage of the opportunities and neutralize the risks of these technologies.

The INBOTS project began in January 2018 and is led by the Neuro-Rehabilitation Group of the Cajal Institute of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC). With the participation of 25 entities from 13 European countries, its aim is to promote the integration of interactive robots in Europe from a responsible research and innovation paradigm. To this end, it brings together the perspectives of specialists from different disciplines while establishing a dialogue with society. EDUMOTIVA, as one of the 25 partners in INBOTS, works for the creation of a sustainable framework for robotics education highlighting the need for a paradigm shift in school education that will integrate the maker movement culture  (“make your own robots”) within robotics education and contribute to the robotics uptake.
